Tweet mockup & fake tweet generator

Build a post that looks like it came straight from X, then download it as a PNG. Everything happens in your browser: the photos you add never leave your device.

Use mockups responsibly. This is a mockup tool for parody, presentations, design work and teaching. Don’t use it to impersonate a real person or to pass off a made-up post as real — that can mislead people and may break the law or X’s rules.

How to make a tweet mockup

  1. Type a display name and @username, and upload a profile photo. Without a photo, the mockup uses the first letter of the name.
  2. Pick a verification badge: none, blue, gold or gray. Turn on the “Parody account” label if the post is a parody.
  3. Write the post. Links, @mentions and #hashtags turn blue the way they do on X, and the counter shows the length X would count.
  4. Optionally attach an image, then set the date, time, views, replies, reposts, likes and bookmarks.
  5. Choose Light, Dim or Dark, then press Download PNG or copy the image to your clipboard.

What the mockup looks like

The preview follows the current layout of a single post on X: avatar, name and badge on the first line, the handle below, the text in a larger size, an optional image with rounded corners, then the time, date and view count, and finally the action bar with replies, reposts, likes and bookmarks.

Numbers are shortened the way X shows them, so 1,240 likes appear as 1.2K and 58,300 views as 58.3K. You can switch the interface language of the mockup between English and Turkish, independent of the page language, so “Views” becomes “Görüntülenme” and the date format changes with it.

The PNG is rendered at twice the on-screen size, which keeps text sharp in slides, documents and social posts.

Where a tweet mockup is useful

Designers and marketers use post mockups in pitch decks, landing pages and ad concepts without publishing anything. Teachers and trainers use them to explain how a post is built or to show what misinformation can look like. Writers use them to see how a draft will read in the feed before they post it. And, of course, people make obvious jokes and parody posts.

If you are planning a real post, a mockup is a quick way to check line breaks, how an image crops and whether the first line works on its own.

Use it responsibly

A mockup is a picture, not a post. Don’t use this tool to impersonate a real person or organization, or to pass off a made-up post as something someone actually wrote. That can mislead people, damage reputations and break the law, and it goes against X’s rules on impersonation and misleading media.

To make honest use easier, every image includes a small xvirals.com watermark by default. You can remove it for design work, and you can add the “Parody account” label so the intent is clear.

Writing the real post? Check its length with the character counter or split a long one into numbered tweets with the thread generator.

Frequently asked questions

Is this fake tweet generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and has no download limit.

Are the photos I upload sent to a server?

No. Your profile photo and post image are resized in your browser and stay on your device. The PNG is also created in your browser.

Can I remove the xvirals.com watermark?

Yes. Untick “Show xvirals.com watermark” before you download. It is on by default so that shared images are easier to recognize as mockups.

Is it legal to make a fake tweet?

Mockups for design, teaching, presentations and clearly labeled parody are a common use. Presenting a fabricated post as something a real person wrote can count as impersonation or defamation and breaks X’s rules. When in doubt, label it as a mockup or parody. This is not legal advice.

What do the blue, gold and gray badges mean?

On X, a blue checkmark comes with an X Premium subscription, a gold checkmark marks an organization in Verified Organizations, and a gray checkmark marks government and multilateral accounts.

Does it support dark mode?

Yes. You can switch between X’s Light, Dim and Dark themes; the exported PNG uses the theme you pick.

Can the post be longer than 280 characters?

Yes. The counter warns you when the text goes past 280, because only X Premium accounts can publish longer posts, but the mockup still renders the full text.
