Case converter

Paste text and switch it to uppercase, lowercase, title case, sentence case and more in one click. A Turkish letter toggle handles i and I correctly. It runs in your browser.

Runs in your browser. Your text is not sent anywhere.

What can the case converter do?

Paste your text and pick a button. UPPERCASE and lowercase change every letter. Title Case capitalizes the first letter of each word. Sentence case capitalizes the first letter of each sentence and lowercases the rest. aLtErNaTiNg flips the case letter by letter, and iNVERSE swaps every upper-case letter for lower-case and the other way round. A copy button puts the result on your clipboard.

It is the quick fix for text typed with caps lock on, headings that need consistent capitalization, or a block of text you want in capitals. Nothing is typed again: you change the case in place and copy it back.

How do I convert uppercase to lowercase, or the other way?

Paste the text, then press lowercase to turn everything into small letters, or UPPERCASE for capitals. To fix a paragraph that was written in all caps, press lowercase first and then Sentence case, so the first letter of each sentence is capitalized again.

Title Case follows a simple rule: every word starts with a capital. Style guides for headlines often keep short words such as “and”, “of” or “the” in lower case. This tool does not apply a particular style guide, so check headings for those small words before you publish.

What is the Turkish i and I problem?

Turkish has two separate letters i: the dotted i with capital İ, and the dotless ı with capital I. Most software follows the English rule where i becomes I, which is wrong in Turkish. Convert “istanbul” to capitals the English way and you get ISTANBUL, but the correct Turkish form is İSTANBUL. In the other direction, “ISPARTA” lowercased the English way becomes “isparta”, but it should be “ısparta”.

The “Turkish letter rules” toggle applies the Turkish mapping: i becomes İ, ı becomes I, İ becomes i and I becomes ı. Turn it on for Turkish, Azerbaijani and other languages that share these letters, and leave it off for English text. Without it, a plain lowercase conversion of İ can even leave an extra combining dot behind the letter.

Where is changing case useful?

Common uses are cleaning up copied text, preparing headings, normalizing names in a spreadsheet column, or turning a label into capitals for a design. Developers sometimes need to check how a string looks in a different case before using it in code.

For decorative styles such as bold or script letters, use the font generator or the bold text generator. Those produce special Unicode symbols, which is different from changing the case of normal letters.

Is my text private?

Yes. The conversion runs in your browser and the text is never sent to a server. Check the length of the result afterwards with the word counter or the character counter.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change text from uppercase to lowercase online?

Paste the text into the box and press the lowercase button. Press UPPERCASE to go the other way, and use the copy button to take the result.

What is the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?

Title Case capitalizes the first letter of every word. Sentence case capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence.

Why does uppercase turn Turkish i into I instead of İ?

Most software uses the English rule. Turn on the Turkish letter rules toggle so i becomes İ and ı becomes I, and the reverse when lowercasing.

Should I leave the Turkish toggle on for English text?

No. For English, keep it off. With it on, every i becomes İ in capitals, which is wrong for English.

Does Title Case skip small words like “of” and “the”?

No. It capitalizes every word, so check headings by hand if your style guide keeps small words in lower case.

Is the text saved or sent anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser.
