Readers see roughly the first 210 characters before “…see more”. The exact cut is approximate: it depends on the device, screen width and line breaks.

How to write in bold on LinkedIn

The LinkedIn post editor has no bold or italic button. A post is plain text, so the only way to get the look of bold is to swap each letter for a Unicode character that is drawn in bold. That is what this tool does: select a word or a line, press Bold, and copy the finished post.

Because the result is made of characters rather than formatting, it keeps its look when you paste it into the post box, a comment or the About section of your profile. LinkedIn articles and newsletters are different: they have their own editor with real formatting, so you do not need styled characters there.

Where bold text helps in a LinkedIn post

Use it the way a good editor uses bold in print: rarely, and only where the reader's eye should land first.

  • A short heading at the top of a long post or before each section.
  • One key phrase in a paragraph that carries the main point.
  • The label of each item in a list (“Step 1: …”).
  • A single line in your About section that says what you do.

Limits you should know before you use it

Screen readers do not read styled characters as normal letters. Depending on the device, a bold word may be spelled out letter by letter or skipped, so a post written entirely in bold can be hard or impossible to follow for people who use assistive technology. Keep whole sentences in plain text.

Search works on characters too. A word written in bold Unicode is not the same text as the plain word, so it may not match a search for it, and a styled hashtag is a different hashtag. Keep names, hashtags and keywords plain.

Unicode has styled letters only for the basic Latin alphabet. Accented and Turkish letters such as é, ç, ğ, ş, ö, ü and ı have no bold version and stay plain, which the tool tells you about.

Bullets, line breaks and the “…see more” cut

Long LinkedIn posts are shortened in the feed and end with a “…see more” link, so the opening lines decide whether anyone reads the rest. The formatter previews roughly where that cut falls, so you can make sure your first lines work on their own. LinkedIn does not publish an exact rule for the cut, so treat the preview as an estimate.

Short paragraphs separated by empty lines and simple bullets (•) make a post easier to scan on a phone. The tool adds bullet and numbered lists for you. If you need a draft to format in the first place, the LinkedIn post generator writes two free drafts from a topic.

Writing posts that sound like you

Formatting makes a good post easier to read; it cannot make a weak one interesting. The opening line, a concrete example and your own point of view matter more than any style. xVirals is an AI writing assistant that learns your style from your own public posts and drafts in your voice; you edit and post every draft yourself. For other platforms, the bold text generator offers the same bold styles in more variations.

Frequently asked questions

Can you bold text in a LinkedIn post?

Not with built-in formatting: the post editor has no bold button. You can get the same look with Unicode bold characters, which this tool creates. Copy the result and paste it into your post.

Is bold text allowed on LinkedIn?

The characters are ordinary Unicode text that LinkedIn displays like any other text. Use them sparingly so the post stays readable and accessible.

Does bold text work in LinkedIn comments and my profile?

Yes. Because it is made of characters, it can be pasted into comments, your headline or your About section as well as posts.

Why do some letters stay plain?

Unicode has styled versions only of the basic Latin letters. Accented and Turkish letters such as é, ç, ğ, ş, ö, ü and ı have no bold or italic form, so they are left as they are.

Can screen readers read bold Unicode text?

Often not well. They may spell styled words letter by letter or skip them. Keep important information and whole sentences in plain text.

Does this tool save what I type?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and your text is never sent to a server.
