X (Twitter) engagement rate calculator

Add the likes, replies, reposts and quotes on a post, then divide by your follower count or by impressions to get a rate. The calculation runs in your browser.

Enter the numbers from one post. Everything runs in your browser.

The formula differs by platform, so compare the result with your own earlier posts, not with other accounts. Engagement counts are as you enter them; nothing is checked or stored.

How is the X engagement rate calculated?

With followers as the base, the formula is (likes + replies + reposts + quotes) ÷ followers × 100. If you have impressions for the post, you can divide by impressions instead, which shows how the post performed among the people who saw it.

The two results answer different questions, so label which base you used when you compare posts.

Where do I find impressions on X?

Impressions are shown in X analytics for your own posts. They are not visible on the public post page for other accounts, so you cannot use this formula for someone else's post.

If you do not have impressions, use the followers base and keep using it for every post you compare.

Is a higher X engagement rate always better?

Not necessarily. A high rate on a small account can come from a few people, and a post can get many impressions with few replies. Read the rate together with the raw numbers.

Track the rate for the same kind of post over several weeks to see whether your writing is changing how people respond.

Which X numbers should I enter?

Enter the likes, replies, reposts and quotes shown on the post, along with your follower count on the same day. Check each number against your analytics before you compare posts.

If X changes the way it displays these numbers, update your notes so older and newer posts remain comparable.

Frequently asked questions

Is this X engagement rate calculator free?

Yes. It needs no sign-up and has no daily limit.

Should I divide by followers or impressions?

Use followers for a quick comparison across posts. Use impressions when you have them in analytics, because it measures response among people who saw the post.

Are my numbers saved?

The calculation runs in your browser and the tool does not send the numbers to a server.

Does a quote count as engagement?

In this formula, yes. Quotes are added with likes, replies and reposts. Keep the same set of actions for every comparison.

Can I use this for a competitor's post?

You can calculate with whatever numbers you can see. Impressions are usually only visible to the account owner, so for other accounts use the followers base.
