Engagement rate calculator

Enter the interactions on a post and your follower count to get an engagement rate as a percentage. The calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to a server.

Enter the numbers from one post. Everything runs in your browser.

The formula differs by platform, so compare the result with your own earlier posts, not with other accounts. Engagement counts are as you enter them; nothing is checked or stored.

How is the engagement rate calculated?

The basic formula is (likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ followers × 100. Each part adds the interactions a post received, and dividing by followers turns the total into a percentage.

The calculator asks for each number separately, so you can leave out anything your platform does not show.

Is there a good engagement rate number?

There is no universal benchmark that this tool can give you. Platforms define interactions differently, and audience size changes the result a lot.

The number is most useful when you compare it with your own earlier posts. A rate that rises over several weeks tells you more than a single figure compared with someone else's account.

Why do platforms give different engagement rates?

Each platform counts different actions and shows different data. X uses replies and reposts, Instagram uses saves, and TikTok and YouTube are measured against views instead of followers.

Use the platform-specific calculators to match the formula to the app you are checking: X, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube.

Which numbers should I enter?

Use the totals for one post over a fixed period, and your follower count on the same day. If a number is missing, enter 0 and remember that the result is then an estimate.

Keep the same method every time you check. Changing the formula between posts makes the comparison meaningless.

Frequently asked questions

Is the engagement rate calculator free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no daily limit on this calculator.

Are my numbers sent to a server?

No. The calculation runs in your browser, so the numbers you type stay on your device.

What is a good engagement rate?

No fixed number is good for every account. Compare your rate with your own past posts over time.

Should I include shares and saves?

Include them only if you can see them on your platform. Use the same set of numbers for every comparison.

Why is my rate so low when my post got many views?

The formula divides by followers, so reach from people who do not follow you does not raise the rate. Platform-specific tools that use views can give a different picture.
