Instagram bio ideas you can copy and make your own

A good Instagram bio tells a stranger three things in a few seconds: who you are, what your account is about, and what to do next. Below you'll find more than 40 original bios, sorted by theme, plus a simple formula and a few tips so you can adapt them. Swap in your own details; a bio that sounds like someone else works worse than a plain one that sounds like you.
What a good Instagram bio does
Your bio is the first thing a visitor reads after your photo. It has to answer "is this account for me?" quickly. Instagram's Help Center says you can write a bio of up to 150 characters, which is about one or two short sentences. That limit forces useful choices.
- Who you are: a role, a hobby or a vibe, in a few words ("Product designer", "Weekend baker").
- What you post: the topic a follower can expect ("Small-space ideas", "Honest study tips").
- Why follow: a promise that's modest and true ("New one every Friday"), not a bold claim.
- One call to action: a single next step, such as "Portfolio ↓" or "DM for rates". Two or more dilute each other.

Make your bio stand out: fonts, emoji and line breaks
A few small choices change how a bio reads. Use a line break to separate who you are from what to do next. Keep emoji to one or two, placed where a word would otherwise go. If you want a styled look, our Instagram font generator converts text into Unicode styles; use it on a word or two rather than the whole bio, because stylised letters can be harder to read and may not show correctly everywhere.
Our bio generator was built for X profiles, but the same four-part structure works here. Test your final text by reading it out loud; if it sounds like a stranger, simplify it.
✓ Do
- State one clear topic or role
- End with a single action (link, DM, shop)
- Use one or two emoji where they replace a word
- Update it when your focus changes
✕ Avoid
- Stuffing in five hashtags and ten emoji
- Vague claims like "best ever" or "living my best life" with nothing behind them
- Several calls to action competing with each other
- Copying someone else's bio word for word
Frequently asked questions
How many characters can an Instagram bio have?
Instagram's Help Center says you can write a bio of up to 150 characters.
What should I put in my Instagram bio?
Four things: who you are, what you post, a reason to follow, and one call to action such as a link or DM.
Can I copy these bios?
Yes. They are original and meant as starting points. Change the details so they describe you, because a bio that fits your account works better than a perfect one that doesn't.
Should I use emoji in my bio?
One or two are fine. They can replace a word or add personality, but too many make a short bio harder to read.
How do I make my Instagram bio look different?
Use a line break to separate ideas and keep a consistent tone. You can try a font style on one or two words with an Instagram font generator.
How often should I update my bio?
Whenever your focus changes, you launch something or a link goes out of date. There's no fixed schedule.
